B is for bags but to be more precise, Balenciaga bags. Need I say More?


Señor Balenciaga sits onthe Kingdom of great Spanish Designers along with Manolo Blahnik. He started out in the 50´s in the quaint province of Gipuzkoa, one of the many ETA terrorists- infected areas in the country.

This year, his motorcycle bag collection were spotted in the arms and hands of high voltage celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Nikki Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan and more.


I think this collection is a rather brave move away from the company´s traditional design and style that is known for---goat skins combined with silver trimmings and what have you.

Now,they've used gold instead of silver which some Balenciaga fanatics thought a little bit tacky and ¨matronic¨.


I am not worried though 'coz the Men´s collection is just orgasmic. Check this:

Perfect for ladies and gentlemen and everything in between.

My Spanish teacher and friend, Antonio, once told me he would never talk to me ever again if I buy any designer bags.

Cristóbal Balenciaga was born on 21 January 1895 in Getaria (Gipuzkoa). This maestro of haute couture had been familiar with textile design since his early childhood, as his mother was a dressmaker. In 1911 he moved to San Sebastián and began to work as the head of the Pegasin du Luvre workshop. In 1915 he opened his first couture house in San Sebastián, under the name of Balenciaga, which was followed by the first Madrid-based subsidiary company in 1921. At his San Sebastián workshop, Balenciaga adapted the designs that arrived from Paris, a normal practice amongst the tailors of the day. The opening of his Madrid store represented the first step on the road to success in Spanish fashion for Balenciaga, success that would soon extend outside Spain.
